I haven't been able to have my vision board party since 2019 due to COVID, but this year I decided to hold a Zoom and get back to linking up with like minded women. The devil was busy, because I had such a busy week that it slipped my mind to send out the link to everyone (head slap). I did manage to still get a couple people to log on, so we pushed forward. We all have so many plans for 2022. Some, unfortunately, are repeats from the previous year(s).
Have you ever made plans for the year or made a vision board and the year ends and you find that you haven't accomplished what you set out to because you either forgot or just didn't follow through? Well, we decided that to avoid this we're going to have an accountability meeting every month to see what we completed to help us get closer to achieving the goals we set for ourselves. I think this is so awesome, because so many of us don't hold ourselves accountable to keeping the promises and the goals we set for ourselves.
We all are so similar in the things that hold us back from reaching our full potential, that I feel like many people can relate. So next time we want it to be live on social media for others to join in or benefit from the conversations. This is sort of a step in fulfilling one of my goals (I'll get to those later). I'm such a private person that I don't really share much on social media or put myself out to the public. So I'm both nervous and excited to move forward with going live. Hopefully, it'll even reach people outside of our sphere of influence, to really challenge my self obstructing tendencies.
So, let's dive into some of my personal goals for 2022:
Numero UNO, exercise more consistent self care. I hate to admit it, but I have not been taking great care of myself. I'm so busy trying to take care of my family, be a good a mom, a good wife, struggling to be what I feel an ideal homemaker should be, fighting to achieve a certain level of success in business... that I don't make much time for myself. Which I've read could be the cause to a lot of issues I've been having for the last couple of years... anxiety, lack of energy, trouble sleeping (anyone who knows me, knows this was never a problem for me), and even some physical symptoms like dizziness, headaches, and heart palpitations. I'm realizing taking better care of me allows me to be in a better headspace. Then, I can be a better mom, a better wife, a better homemaker, and businesswoman. It all starts with me. I have to be good for all those things to be good.
Number two, promote myself and network more. As I've already stated, I'm a pretty private person. I personally like it that way. I am outgoing, but it's in spurts. Interacting with people is really draining for me. I always have to recuperate. I pop out and then I have to retreat and recharge for a while. COVID has made it 1000% more convenient for me to stay private and to myself. Needless to say, lack of self promotion and networking will prevent your business from reaching it's fullest potential. For instance, I am a licensed realtor. I have been licensed for 4 years now and probably a good 25% of people I know even know that. Why? Because I don't promote myself. I don't share what I'm doing. I don't post pictures from closings. I use real estate as an example, but this really applies to all my businesses. Let me explain what my thought process was. All of my business currently comes from word of mouth and referrals. I have a lot on my plate and I'm busy already. So, I've been afraid if I put myself out there I'll be overwhelmed by the increase of work that could come with it. That's crazy right, it's better to have a rapidly growing business, than to risk becoming stagnant and your business failing. I'm going to do better 2022. Which leads to my third goal.
Be more consistent with social media marketing content. I know that social media is such an important marketing tool that I have underutilized for years now.
Number four, complete the formation of my nonprofit. I have a passion for helping people in my community. I want to provide free financial education to members of our community, especially the youth. I want to provide business education and resources for start ups and those already in business. As a youth, I wasn't taught any financial education like the importance of credit, budgeting, or investing. If we know better, we can do better, and we can teach our children better. That gives them a leg up and allows them to start early working at financial freedom and wealth building. I help anyone that wants help with business education. I currently provide all types of information, such as properly forming your business with an EIN, business license, how to form a LLC, opening a business bank account, business privilege taxes, business personal property taxes, building business credit, grant and loan resources, how to obtain free hosting for a professional email with custom domain, obtaining a business landline line & cell line for only $39/year, etc. I personally feel that it's predatory to charge people for a free resource. There are so many people charging for things like showing you how to obtain an EIN. IT'S FREE ON IRS.GOV. All this information and more is out there for free, you just have to look for it. I just want to be a resource where it can all be obtained in one place, FOR FREE. Their money can go into actually forming their business and paying for the expenses that come along with that. I'm on a rant now, but I really am so passionate about helping people who want the knowledge. Turning that passion into a nonprofit is probably going to be one of the most fulfilling things I've ever accomplished.
That's just some of the goals that I WILL (not just hope to) accomplish 2022. What goals have you set for yourself this year? List them down below, then join in on our live conversation on Shaping a Legacy Facebook page, starting next month. Let's keep each other accountable.
Until next time, be blessed, less stressed, and think positive.
